Apollo Fish recipe

Apollo Fish recipe – It is one of the favorite sea food appetizers served in many restaurants of Hyderabad. It is similar to Fish 65.

Apollo Fish is made with Large fish that is deskinned and boneless chopped into bite size pieces. These are then marinated with spices and deep fried. Then tempered with flavors of green chilis, garlic and curry leaves.

It has a unique spicy, tangy flavor to it. Fish can be cooked in many ways, but this boneless variety is favorite among hyderabadis.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS OF APOLLO FISH RECIPE WITH PHOTOS:
  1. Use boneless fish for this recipe and cut it into bite size pieces, marinate with lemon juice and salt for 5 minutes.

2. Add ingredients under marination (chili powder, egg white, ginger garlic paste) and marinate for minimum of 30 mins to 2 hours (if marinating for more than 30 minutes place it in refrigerator).

3. Add corn flour, maida to marinated fish and mix well.

4. Take a deep bottom pan and heat oil for deep frying.

5. Once the oil is hot, reduce the flame to medium (refer notes) and add battered fish pieces. Cook till it turns golden brown.

6. In a separate pan, add 2 tbsp oil (you can use same oil used for deep frying), add some chopped garlic, green chili and curry leaves. Cook for a minute.

7. Then add fried fish, vinegar mixed with water, chili sauce and cook for 3-4 minutes for the fish to absorb the flavors.

8. Garnish with curry leaves and serve it with sauce or yogurt dip.

Ingredients
  

  • 200 grams Boneless fish chopped into bite size pieces
  • Oil For deep frying
  • 2 tbsp Corn flour
  • 1 tbsp Maida
  • 5 pods Garlic chopped
  • 10-15 Curry leaves
  • 2 Green chili Chopped
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Chili sauce Preferably red

Ingredients for marination

  • 1/2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Chili powder
  • 1 Egg white
  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste

  • Garnish with curry leaves and serve it with sauce or yogurt dip.

Notes

  1.  While frying the pieces, keep the flame on medium. If you keep it low, the pieces absorb oil, if it is high they don’t cook well.
  2. Any type of fish can used for this recipe, I used murrel fish.
  3. Fry some curry leaves and keep aside for garnishing.
